Resources Focus on Building Knowledge Among Nonprofits

Survey results confirm rising demand and tighter financials
In May 2009, FCI released the report Wisconsin Nonprofits: Coping with Economic Crisis. The report contains the results of a survey of 245 nonprofits from all over the state of Wisconsin, diverse in geographic location, staffing size, budget, and mission. The commonality is that all these nonprofits are providing important services and strengthening the livelihood in our statewide communities.

The key findings of the survey results are:

  • Organizations are tapping cash reserves to meet budget shortfalls.
  • Uncertainty about future financial health is creating anxiety.
  • Demand for services is increasing while donations are decreasing.
  • Commitment to fulfilling missions remains strong.

Please download the report ... and tell us what you think about the results, the survey and share with us any questions you may have - we really do welcome your welcome your input and feedback.

Forward Community Investments would like to extend a special thanks to the following organizations for their assistance in creating, distributing, and analyzing this survey: Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, Inc.; Community Shares of Wisconsin;Timpano Group; Wegner LLP; Wisconsin Nonprofits Association; and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Madison Chapter. Also, a warm thank you to Amy Putzer for authoring the report.
